Successful collaboration with partners installing a new biomass plant on the Isle of Jura
In 2022, Whyte & Mackay commissioned Ferguson Transport & Shipping and Stoddart Crane Hire to install a new biomass plant on the Isle of Jura. After two years of meticulous planning and problem solving, we recently completed this challenging job successfully working with Stoddard Crane Hire Ltd, JMF Engineering & renewables and Davis Trackhire.
We transported over 15 loads of equipment using our specialised trailers, and Stoddart’s transported the boiler, weighing 40 tonnes, on their 4 axle Nooteboom Manoovr trailer which was lifted with their 230 tonne Liebherr crane. All of this was loaded at our port in Kishorn and delivered to the island using our landing craft vessels, on both the ferry slip and a purpose-built temporary slip closer to Jura distillery.
Jack Ferguson, Operations Director commented “We are very pleased to have been part of this project and all credit to our Transport and Marine team who worked tirelessly on this job, overcoming any challenges we faced. It was great to collaborate and work with Ewan and the Stoddart Crane Hire guys, along with Jamie from JMF Engineering, a great team effort from everyone!”
Huge well done to Jack and the team for their hard work in ensuring this job was completed safely and successfully!
