Continuing Professional Development is fundamental to the success of the individual and the organisation in which they work. Our purpose built training suite is suitable for a variety of training courses designed to meet your business needs and will accommodate up to 16 delegates.

Continuous Professional Development

At Ferguson Transport & Shipping, we are committed to the principles of equal opportunity and apply them to all of our relationships. Our in-house Driver Training programme is designed to give the driver the necessary knowledge & understanding to keep them safe, legal and compliant.

Driving for business is becoming more and more stressful year on year. The increasing volume of both vehicles on the road and regulations that need to be observed make life more difficult for the professional vocational driver. That’s why we at Ferguson Transport & Shipping has designed a specific one to one training course which concentrates on behavioural based safety, helping to promote professionalism through effective driver training awareness and development.

“Promoting Professionalism Through Effective Driver Training Awareness & Development”

To improve is to change, to perfect is to change often. Having a willingness to adapt driver technique to the ever changing challenging driving conditions is the key to our success.

The DYNAFLEET Challenge

Rising costs and environmental issues are always high on everyone’s agenda; that’s why we introduced the DYNAFLEET Challenge in 2018. Each month the TOP 20 most efficient drivers are entered into a prize draw with a fantastic reward. Thanks to our drivers’ hard work and determination, we have seen some significant savings in efficiency and miles per gallon in the months since. ONLY with our drivers’ continued help and support can we get better and more efficient in all that we do. The rewards are simple: a more relaxed efficient driver, reduced fuel consumption and reduced environmental impact.

Driver CPC

If you passed your vocational test to drive goods vehicles before September 9th 2009, you would have had acquired rights to the driver qualification until 2014. The next expiry date for most of us will be 9th September 2019 which is NOW fast approaching!

It is imperative that you have accurate information on just how many Driver CPC courses you have attended. Failure to gain the required number of hours necessary (35) will mean you will no longer be allowed to drive goods vehicle commercially. If you are caught driving without a valid driver qualification card (DQC), you will receive a fixed penalty at the roadside. The vehicle you are responsible for may also be impounded and your employer will face serious consequences from the Traffic Commissioner.

What you can do

GOV.UK have set up a website where you can logon, enter in a few details and check your Driver CPC periodic training hours. It will also tell you which courses you have attended and it will allow you to create a temporary password for your employer so they can view your record.

Before you start

You need to register to use the service if you are a new user. To do this you will need your driving licence number and your home postcode. A password will be sent to the address shown on your driving licence. Once you receive your password, using any search engine, type in the following web address and follow the simple instructions:

What about something different…

What do you need to know? The choice is yours, choose one or both, YOU decide.

The Knowledge

The Knowledge will give you the necessary understanding to make you an effective team player in any organisation. With ‘hands on’ practical exercises and continuous individual effort, not just experience, you will be able to unlock your full potential. Having the knowledge is necessary to facilitate your business needs.

Driven by YOU

Our NEW CPC course ‘Driven by YOU’ covers a variety of topics including driver wellbeing, stress & stroke. It refreshes your knowledge on EU & AETR rules. Covers vehicle familiarisation, customer service, SMART motorways & speed and culminates with self escorting abnormal indivisible loads. Because it is interactive, it offers delegates an enjoyable learning experience whilst working in the transport industry. By using the latest digital technology, 80s themed gameshows and brain teasing puzzles to help promote learning outcomes, driven by you is for YOU.
