Continued Sponsorship for The Lochaber Christmas Festival

Christmas Banner

For another year running, Ferguson Transport & Shipping are delighted to announce that we will continue our support for the full cost of the Cairngorm Reindeer Team to attend the Christmas Festival organised by the Rotary Club of Lochaber.

The annual Christmas Festival is a fun day out for all ages and it will take place this Saturday 28 November 2015 at the Nevis Centre in Fort William, with up to 3000 visitors and locals expected. The festival will open its doors at 9.30 am, where there will be nearly 80 stalls full of excellent festive goodies and gifts to buy, such as local jewellery, crafts, fashion, home wares and great Lochaber foodstuffs with live music in the background and an opportunity to visit Santa’s very own Grotto!

Santa and his reindeer will be leaving Cameron Square at 11 am, travelling along the High Street, over the Parade Green, and arriving at the Nevis Centre at 12 noon.  The Ben Nevis All Stars and Circus Alba (courtesy of the Town Team) will also be performing in Cameron Square, all for free. The reindeer will then rest and relax in their pen outside the Nevis Centre, providing lots of further ideal photo opportunities.

(L-R) Ken Johnston (Rotary Club of Lochaber), Colleen MacLean (Ferguson Transport & Shipping), Jodie Ferguson (Ferguson Transport & Shipping) and David Robertson (Rotary Club of Lochaber), spent an afternoon reading and assessing poems on Monday 23 November 2015 from local primary schools in Lochaber. Choosing the winners was a hugely difficult task, due to the talented young writers and the high calibre of poems. The two children selected, have been chosen for composing the winning poems in the Lochaber News’ search for two little helpers for Santa and his reindeer this Saturday.

The profits generated from the Lochaber Christmas Festival help to advance many of the Club’s activities in the community and support many local good causes.

In 2014, the past Rotary Club President, John Harvey said:  “The festival created a great sense of community spirit with a trading opportunity for approximately seventy craft and food producers, a range of activities specifically for young people, and indeed something for everyone.”

“The turnout and support from the general public was gratifying, and we are indebted to Ferguson Transport & Shipping for their ongoing sponsorship.”
