Santa Claus is Coming to Town!

Ferguson Transport & Shipping are delighted to continue our support for the Rotary Club of Lochaber annual Christmas Festival event in Fort William for another year running.

The event encompasses over 70 stalls of Christmas products and an array of highlights, for example: the Cairngorm Reindeer Parade with Santa and his little helpers, Craft & Food Producers with designer made goods, Santa’s Grotto and a Grand Raffle – making it a fun, cheery and Christmassy day out for families, locals and visitors alike.

What else to look out for at the Festival?

(L-R) Rotarian’s David Robertson, Colleen MacLean from Ferguson Transport & Shipping, Rotary Club President John Harvey, Sheana Fraser and Ken Johnston, finalised details for the Christmas Festival, at a lunch meeting on Wednesday 22nd October.

The Christmas Festival will showcase: the Lochaber Pipe Band, Lochaber Wind Band, Tulloch Handbell Ringers, Ben Nevis All Stars Cheerleaders, Body Zorbing, a Bouncy Castle, Candy Floss Cart, Santa’s Post-box, a hot Chestnut Stall, delightful local food with free tasting and live demonstrations. And, whilst you’re there you can also make use of the Nevis Centre facilities in the Spectrum Soft Play area and Bowling Alley, which will be open throughout the event.

Words from the Rotary Club President

Rotary Club of Lochaber President John Harvey, said: “This year’s event is our biggest ever and we are particularly proud of our mid- morning parade from Cameron Square with Santa’s Sleigh being pulled by the Cairngorm Reindeer Team and fronted by the Lochaber Pipe Band. This is sponsored once again by Ferguson Transport & Shipping, and our opening event in the Square will include the Tulloch Bellringers, the Lochaber Community Wind Band and the Ben Nevis All Stars Cheerleaders. We hope that locals and visitors will support the event.”

(L-R) Ken Johnston, Rotary Club President John Harvey, David Robertson and Kirsty Morrison and Colleen MacLean from Ferguson Transport & Shipping spent an afternoon reading and assessing 160 poems on Wednesday 19th November from local primary schools in Lochaber, which was a hugely difficult decision, due to the talented young writers and high calibre of poems. The two children Sebastian Mrazek age 6 from Banavie Primary, and Talia Stoddart age 9 from Caol Primary, have been selected for composing the winning poems in the Lochaber News’ search for two little helpers for Santa and his reindeer; a further 12 poems were shortlisted and will feature in the Nevis Centre on Saturday 29th November.
